Akerele Connects With The Youths On Independence Day
IMMEDIATE past Chief of Staff to Governor Godwin Obaseki, Taiwo Akerele has shown his continued relevance after leaving his juicy appointment on the basis of principle.
It will be recalled that Mr Akerele will go down in history as one public official that will voluntary relinquish office on account of principles in Nigeria and a youth for that matter.
The first Akoko-Edo man to hold the exalted position has a second address as he doesn’t believe that politics should be a do or die affair. He joined the Nigerian office of Canadian group, Policy House Nigeria where he quietly contributes his quota towards nation building without any form of fanfare, he currently champions the Incentive Based Program for Nigerian north east and coordinates the borrow right program for Africa. Mr Akerele was also elected chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Abuja.
In a country where people of questionable character are honoured, it is gratifying that the National Association of Political Science Students in the nation’s Premier University – University of Ibadan invited him to be the Guest Speaker of the Maiden Edition of their public lecture which is slated to hold on October 1, 2021 in commemoration of the nation’s independence day celebration. The topic is ‘Nigeria @61: Youth Participation in Nation Building.’
Akerele won an award for championing Open Government Partnership and contributed his quota to Edo State as the Project Coordinator of the Youth Empowerment Programme.
Political pundits will never forget that Akerele used his extensive private sector contacts to attract some World Bank projects to Edo State during the administration of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Akerele who has achieved so much in his 45 years of earthly sojourn is a shining light and ambassador for the youths. His choice as the guest speaker in the Ivory Tower is a master stroke especially at a time when many youths in the country are grappling with identity crisis and the need for a sense of direction to navigate through the stormy sea of life.
Since leaving office, Mr Akerele has not rested a minute as he has been the toast of many organization including some Federal agencies in areas such as capacity building and public speaking.
