Abia People Need Me As Governor, Says Abaribe

SENATE Minority Leader Enyinnaya Abaribe has said he is the best person to succeed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

He described himself as a public asset with a history of honour, integrity and credibility.

The former deputy governor said apart from performing his statutory functions as a federal legislator, he has also served the people through the performance of quasi-executive functions as a result of his many interventionist programmes.

Abaribe told reporters in Lagos that he aspired to be governor of Abia and not governor of a zone within the state.

The Abia South senator also spoke on the Electoral Act, aligning with the provision requiring public servants to resign ahead of primaries.

He said the intention is not to make the Act to have retrospective effect.

On his ambition, Abaribe said: “The state of Abia needs the best material. I believe I am the best material. Abia needs a man that has integrity, credibility, capacity to do the job and somebody that can be relied upon.

“I want to be governor of all Abia, not the governor of South or North. My antecedents, all I have done for Abia and Nigeria show that I will do well.”
