ManUnited Crashes Out Of UCL, Van Gaal Blames Ref And Poor Defending

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has promised to analyse his team’s poor defensive display in their crushing 3-2 defeat against Wolfsburg on Tuesday night, while blaming the referee for some of the calls during the game.

The defeat in which a Jesse Lingard goal was disallowed for offside, condemned United to the Europa League.
“There were decisions of the referee against PSV and today that were not positive to us,” Van Gaal said during his ppst-match press conference.

United crashed out of the Champions League after conceding three goals though they scored two themselves and had a goal ruled out for offside.

Van Gaal spoke to reporters after the game during his post match conference.

“It is difficult to understand when you defend so well normally”, the Dutchman said.

“So I am happy that we have scored, but I am not happy we gave away a goal twice in two minutes.

“I have to analyse it why that has happened because normally we are very good in that aspect of football.”

Van Gaal however tried to see some positives from the defeat: “The last matches we played we didn’t score goals, but now we have scored goals.”

United finished in third place with 8 points in six games and will play in the Europa League next year.
