ITALY’S Lamont Marcell Jacobs stormed to a person best of 9.80s to clinch gold in the men’s 100 metres final event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Sunday.

It was the most anticipated event of the day as all finalists stood a chance of clinching gold having all qualified for the final under 10 seconds. It was also an opportunity to end Usain Bolt’s reign as Olympic champion.

United States of America’s Fred Kerley and Andre De Grasse from Canada finished second and third respectively also in personal best time of 9.84s and 9.89s.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s representative, Enoch Adegoke did not finish as he limped off injured mid-way into the race.
