Air Force Plane Crash: Air Chief Orders Investigation

Following the accident that occurred at the Murtala Mohammed International airport in Lagos when an airforce Super Puma helicopter on landing, caused damages to some ground equipment at the runway, the Chief of Air staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu has ordered an investigation.

A statement confirming the development and signed by Air Comodore Dele Alonge, Director of Information, said “A Super Puma Helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on training mission in Lagos at about 10:00 a.m. this morning returning to the Apron after the completion of the training exercise suffered severe damage due to hydraulic failure while on taxi to the Hanger.

“There was no casualty recorded. However, the main Rotor debris caused damage to some ground equipment.

“Consequently, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu has ordered immediate investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the accident.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said on Friday that no casualty was recorded in the accident of the Super Puma Helicopter during training in Lagos.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by Air Commodore Dele Alonge, Director of Public Relations and Information of NAF.

“A Super Puma Helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on training mission in Lagos on Friday morning suffered severe damage due to hydraulic failure while on taxi to the Hanger.

“However, the main Rotor debris caused damage to some ground equipment,” Alonge said.

He said the helicopter was returning to the Apron after the completion of the training.

He said consequently, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, had ordered immediate investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the incident. (NAN)
